Mac life is good

Life with the new Mac Mini is going better than we could have imagined. I'm already starting to wonder what I did before widgets came into my life. The first thing I do when I roll out of bed in the morning is hit F12 to see my dashboard spring to life with weather, news headlines, stocks, Simpsons quotes, to do lists and more.

The only time I find myself wishing I was using a PC is when I'm in the latest version of Finale music notation software. Using that on the Mac is going to take some getting used to. I'm willing to put in the time.

Switch

Our family is anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new computer. Not just because it's new, but because we're making the conversion from Windows-based PC to Mac.

This is a day I didn't think I would see and I would hope at least a few of my friends would take this opportunity to ridicule me. I used to busy myself making fun of pretentious Mac users so I would expect to receive the same treatment.

Why switch? Why now? No compelling reason except the fact that both Jamie and I use them at work. Jamie always has and I just started teaching a new class called Entertainment Media Technology at Summit Technology Academy.

Everyone knows Macs are the heavy hitters in audio/video editing and production. Having a Mac at home meant I could work at home with some of the software we use at school. All I had to do to get Jamie on board was tell her we could continue to use our existing two-button mouse.

Be prepared for some gushing enthusiasm and positive reviews of life with a Mac.
